TTE535 hybrid performance upgrade turbocharger based on the Original IS38 turbocharger for the 3rd generation VAG 2.0TSI following on from our TTE525R upgrade stage. Stage 3+ power, with great spool and response. We feel this is the best balanced performing hybrid IS38 available on offer.
Engineered & Enhanced EA888 Gen 3 - IS38
To construct a TTE535 we change the original compressor and employ a far larger and more efficient billet wheel with extended tip technology and mill the compressor cover to optimum gap to match the new compressor profile. We replace the original IS38 turbine and CNC mill the turbine housing to install a larger lightweight 9 blade turbine for greater gas flow. We also replace the original thrust bearing for TTE upgrade 360 deg that is made in-house.
We also fit our TTE CNC silencer delete. Modifying the turbo discharge silencer, removing the original baffle internals and fitting a new straight through section, removing any restriction and its function as a noise canceling device, and so improving the flow and enhancing the sound.
The 9 Blade TTE turbine is a special turbine designed by TheTurboEngineers. Advantages are greater gas flow, reducing back pressure and lowering exhaust gas temperatures, allowing safer higher boost levels. This turbine is extremely light in mass so giving a reduced moment of inertia, meaning fast spool up for the size.
Equilibrium
Precisely balancing our turbochargers is a key critical factor to become a TTE upgrade unit as longevity and performance are paramount. Good balance improves acoustics also. Subsequent great care is taken with all TTE turbochargers to achieving our balance standards. Firstly parts are balanced at slow speeds up to 2800RPM in multiple planes using our single parts machine, then components are assembled and then the CHRA are dynamically balanced, but this time depending on the application at up to 250,000 RPM in multiple planes using our in house VSR machine to acquire the ultimate equilibrium, to a standard far higher than OEM. Each turbocharger is supplied with a serial numbered balance test result document.

Actuator Selection: Please note on certain generations of cars there was a turbocharger actuator revision please select your correct type.
Notes: For the core rebuild option & New Core, the shipping covers return shipping back to you upon completion of the build. You are responsible for all shipping fees associated with getting the turbo to its destination. Instructions will be sent via email by XLR8 to you within 2-3 business days with instructions on how to pack and ship your turbo to TTE.
Turbochargers need to be in good working order, complete and free from damage to comply with the price shown. Any turbochargers sent with damage or missing parts may incur extra charges. You will be emailed details to discuss if damage is found outside of the standard TTE upgrade process.
Please do not send any accessories, oil lines, valves, hoses, parts, or components apart from the turbocharger and actuator as we will not be responsible for any losses or breakages of parts.
Pack any turbocharger individually and extremely well to avoid any transit damage, double boxing is recommended. We also recommend adding double shipping labels to the outside of your package and place one inside to ensure your package does not become lost.
We recommend using only DHL, DPD, UPS, TNT, FEDEX carriers. Please send using Express Service ONLY. Using other carriers or non-express will likely cause parcel delays at customs if sending from outside the EU and possible extra fees or return to you.
Once you have sent your turbocharger/s to TheTurboEngineers they will be fully checked and validated within a 2 week timeframe for an upgrade and they will continue to process. If for any reason TTE can not upgrade your turbocharger/s or extra costs required. e.g. find damage, missing parts. We will contact you.
If turbochargers arrive at TheTurboEngineers without a Packing Slip they will not be processed quickly and will be delayed until we can determine the owner & order related!
Sending Goods To The Turbo Engineers GmbH Germany From Outside The European Union
- Send the goods with a courier service like DHL, UPS, TNT, DPD (Express service recommended)
- Please declare a low reasonable value when sending goods.
- Any import duties or fee's that the package may incur upon delivery to TheTurboEngineers will be charged to you the customer. So value accordingly.

Please understand that we are not able to pick up any goods from our local customs office ourselves and goods could be returned to the sender.
All goods that are sent with local post services and don't have a decent declaration of value (invoice) will be delivered to our local customs and we are not able to pick this up so will be returned to the sender. So ensure you send express and by carrier not postal service.
