While the M2 system largely mirrors its M3/M4 siblings, the extensive drone abatement development applied on those platforms ensures a refined experience on the M2.
To achieve desired sound volume, the tubing was enlarged to 76mm (vs stock 70mm) to allow freer flow and reduce backpressure. The system utilizes the retained factory exhaust valves: when closed, flow is directed into the Dinan muffler for a subdued, agreeable note. When the valves are open during high-load conditions, the bulk of the gases bypass the muffler altogether for a near straight pipe design and maximum aural enjoyment. The exhaust is 6 pounds lighter than the stock axle back.
