An upgraded intercooler is crucial when it comes to supporting increased power output and even delivering consistent power at stock power levels. While the factory intercooler flows well, its cooling capacity is limited and it is susceptible to heat-soak when managing extreme heat. The COBB Intercooler Kit offers a significant increase in overall cooling capacity. Intercooler Core The COBB Intercooler Kit is based around a high quality Garrett intercooler core that is 101% larger in size than the factory unit, coming in at 26.2" x 7" x 4.25". At either end of the core are bespoke COBB end tanks, designed and optimized for flow and air path dispersion across the core. Combined, we see significant improvements in heat management without sacrificing airflow.
Charge Piping On either side of the larger core, the COBB kit utilizes 2.5" mandrel bent aluminum tubing that is powder coated wrinkle black. Custom silicone couplers and constant tension clamps keep everything both compliant and leak-free. Mounting The COBB Intercooler fits right into where the factory intercooler sits with no modification needed on the Type R and minimal modification required on the Type S. The aluminum core and end tanks are a bit heavier than the factory aluminum and plastic combination, so we made sure to properly support the upgraded unit with bespoke, in-house designed billet upper mounts and new bushings for both upper and lower mounts.
