Taking our experience developing flywheels for hundreds of applications over the years, we have came up with a solution for the Audi S TRONIC DSG that allows users to maintain the comfort factor achieved by having a dampened hub but also incorporating the benefits found using a lightened flywheel. The OEM dual-mass flywheel is a 24lb chunk of cast iron versus our flywheel that weighs in at 16lbs for our street/strip version. 13lb version and extra light 10lb version also available upon request.

Reducing the rotating mass of the flywheel allows increased throttle response as well as freeing up lost power. On cars making significant power, ditching the dual-mass flywheel is a must as they can be prone to failure.

Other lightweight flywheels on the market for the Audi DSG utilize a solid, rigid hub that can induce rattling and pass other harmful engine harmonics and vibrations through to your transmission. Our sprung hub allows those harmonics and shock passing through the drivetrain to be dampened similar to the OE dual-mass. Not only does this equate to a smoother, quitter driving experience, but the sprung hub can also help extend the life of your transmission and the precious components inside.

The concept is very similar to all of our sprung hub manual clutch discs, but instead of a dampened disc, we now dampen the flywheel itself.

Unlike the way OE manufacturers typically approach manufacturing a dampened or dual mass flywheel using overly complicated springs, bearings, and rubber bushings, our approach is straight forward and simple using our heavy duty springs found in our high performance clutch discs that have been proven to take a beating while also maintaining reliability.
