The factory pendulum mount (or "dogbone" mount) relies on a rubber bushing and a stamped steel arm that allows for significant engine and transmission movement under load. APR replaces this with a two-piece billet-aluminum design featuring a PTFE-lined spherical bearing.
By eliminating the deflection of rubber or polyurethane, this mount ensures that power is transferred more directly to the ground while sharpening gear shifts. Notably, APR's engineers redesigned the rear mounting point to mimic the newer, stronger MQB-style orientation. This specific change addresses a common failure point where the factory rear bolts can strip or tear out of the transmission case under heavy torque, often requiring an expensive transmission replacement.
