By utilizing a genuine BorgWarner K04-64—the same unit found standard on the Golf R and S3—this kit provides a massive jump in performance, delivering lightning-fast transient response and robust power throughout the entire RPM range. It is designed as a highly reliable, budget-conscious alternative to complex "big turbo" kits, utilizing many components already owned by Stage 2 customers.
APR’s customized version of the BorgWarner unit features a CNC-machined billet compressor wheel and an integrated Diverter Valve (DV) port in the compressor cover. This design mimics the factory turbo layout to eliminate boost leaks and unnecessary plumbing. Additionally, the restrictive factory turbo muffler is deleted and replaced with an "EZ-flow" silicone hose for maximum efficiency. Every kit includes the APR Stage 3 K04 ECU Upgrade and a Bosch 3-bar MAP sensor to ensure the factory engine management can accurately monitor and control the increased boost levels.
